The crew behind Soundwave and Soundwave Revolution are showing their indie side with The Harvest Festival - a new festival traveling up the East Coast of Australia.
The lineup includes Portishead, who will be returning to Australia for the first time since wowing audiences in 1998. Soul/R&B/rock ‘n‘ roll/funk legends Sly and The Family Stone will be coming down for it, and if that’s not enough, The Flaming Lips will bring their unique brand of pure live joy along for the ride.
Other highlights include The National, Holy Fuck, Mercury Rev and Death In Vegas, whose album ‘Scorpio Rising‘ is in my personal (and admittedly ever-revolving) “top 10 of all time”.
The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will return after joining Gorillaz on their Australian tour late last year as well as Bright Eyes and The Walkmen, while a little closer to home the festival will also bring along Dappled Cities, PVT, This Town Needs Guns, The Holidays, Phosphorescent, Foxy Shazam and Kormac’s Big Band.
So, excited? Well, tickets are on sale for “early birds” at The Harvest Festival's official website (click here) from Tuesday, July 26. They’ll set you back $135 + booking fee.
The dates for the festival are:
NOVEMBER
12 - Harvest Presents: The Gathering, Werribee Park, Melbourne
13 - Harvest: A Civilised Gathering, Paramatta Park, Sydney
19 - Harvest: A Civilised Gathering, Botanical Gardens, Brisbane
Why does Melbourne have a different name? Who knows.
