Grammy Award winning artist Toni Braxton is free to pursue recording agreements again following a long, draw-out battle with her former label Blackground Records and former manager Barry Hankerson.
Braxton claimed Hankerson was operating under a conflict of interest when he advised her to leave her then label Arista in 2003/Braxton signed with Blackground Records and recorded one album for the label.
Despite a multi-album deal with Blackground, Braxton returned the advance for the second album and sought cancellation of remaining contractual obligations.
"My freedom from Barry Hankerson is priceless, and means everything to me," said Toni Braxton in a statement.
Now that the case is closed, Braxton is free to start work on a new album and shop it to the various record labels for release.
