Benjamin John Power of quirky electro mind-melters Fuck Buttons is planning the release of his self titled debut solo album under the name Blanck Mass.
A press release claims the album is “largely influenced by the likes of musical composer Ennio Morricone and astrophysicist Carl Sagan”, which is a claim sure to set expectations high.
The record consists of ten songs “loosely themed around cerebral hypoxia (a medical condition involving a lack of oxygen to the brain)” and, of course, “the beautiful complexity of the natural world - both universally and personally”.
“I do like the fact that this album represents a pretty clear image of myself,” Power said in a statement. “That which I am aware of and that which might be controlled by some other type of subconscious guidance.”
If you can’t wait until the end of the week when the record finally hits stores, you can head over to Blanck Mass’ Bandcamp site by clicking here and check out the song Land Disasters. If you're anything like me, you'll play it very very loudly and become immersed in the shining light of that glorious electronic symphony.
The album will be released on Friday, July 8 in Australia.
