Cold Chisel fans will soon be treated to a massive reissue series including 56 new and rare recordings and three hours of previously unreleased live footage.
The series will include six ‘video bootleg’ DVDs and new reissues featuring more than 40 previously unseen performances.
The 56 new and rare tracks include a 2JJ ‘Live At The Wireless’ performance from 1977 with two never before released songs, a full concert from St Leonards Park from 1978, extra songs from the Last Stand concerts and dozens of b-sides, out-takes and original demos.
Expanding the original albums will be with ‘East’ nine songs filmed at the Manly Vale Hotel the week the album was released and a DVD of the infamous Countdown performance. ‘Breakfast At Sweethearts’ will feature a full 11 song concert recorded at the ABC. ‘The Last Wave Of Summer’ will feature 4 live and raw videos of songs from the tour. The live album ‘Swingshift’ will feature the four songs not included on the original album.
"Listening to all of this music and watching all of this footage from the past has been amazing” said Jimmy Barnes. “There are songs and performances we'd completely forgotten about; there were times we said, 'did we really play that'? Some tracks here we only ever played once or twice and there are demos of songs that turned into something else. It's been a real trip through our past and reminded us that we were OK for a rock and roll band."
The Chisel archives will be released on July 22, 2011.
