The Rock / Alternative fields were dominated by old and new with Bob Dylan taking out the Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for 'Someday Baby', and Wolfmother claiming the Best Hard Rock performance prize for 'Woman'.'Dani California' won the Red Hot Chili Peppers two prizes, for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
Slayer took out Best Metal Performance for 'Eyes Of The Insane', and psych-rockers The Flaming Lips won the Best Rock Instrumental Performance for 'The Wizard Turns On...'.
