Universal plan to track down and sue whoever leaked a "bogus" version of West’s album leftover track ‘Mama’s Boy’.
The song was leaked a couple of days ago as a leftover song from the sessions of last year’s landmark album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Now West’s label Universal have released a statement saying that the song is not a real Kanye song – it merely uses a vocal track he recorded – and that they’re ready to sue.
Universal claim that the song is “entirely bogus and unsanctioned, and violates the artist’s creative intentions.”
The statement continues, “As is often the unfortunate case, an unknown party or parties got a hold of Kanye West’s vocal track and added their own soundbed to it, effectively and falsely releasing it as a Kanye West track from the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions
“The result in no way resembles the final song Kanye West intended his fans to hear, and he is deeply disappointed that one of the most personal, meaningful and special songs he has ever written would reach people in this way. Needless to say, measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons responsible for leaking this material.”
Part of the vocals were first heard when West did an impromptu freestyle at the offices of Facebook last year.
