Jack White of Third Man Records and the White Stripes is throwing a divorce party with his soon-to-be ex-wife Karen Elson.
US magazine report that White and Elson are to divorce after six years of marriage and instead of being bitter, they sent out invites to friends and family to come “re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family”.
They met on the shoot of a White Stripes video, got married on a canoe on the Amazon river in 2005, and have two children Scarlett, 5, and Henry Lee, 3.
The invite to their divorce party reads, “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children.
“We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.”
"In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family."
They promise "dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them".
The invitation concluded with "This is only for close personal friends so please no plus ones or dead beats. Please help us celebrate together this anniversary of the making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals."
