Jed Kurzel, of AMP-winning duo The Mess Hall, delivers the soundtrack to the disturbing new film Snowtown.
The film, directed by Jed’s brother Justin Kurzel, revolves around the sickening ‘Bodies In The Barrels’ serial murders at Snowtown in South Australia.
Snowtown is on general release and is getting stellar reviews for its handling of a potentially sensational story.
The music is a huge part of the atmosphere and Jed’s first effort as a composer has been highlighted as “eerie”, “terrific”, “evocative” and “nightmarish” by Crikey!s reviewer.
Director Justin says of his brother’s score, “Jed came up with the main Snowtown Pulse and it became so influential that it gave us a new beginning and end of the film. I think it is an astonishingly sophisticated score, which not only affects you intellectually but most importantly emotionally. It’s a muscular, visceral score and integral to the psychological journey in the film.”
The Snowtown soundtrack is out now on iTunes through Ivy League Records.
