Beloved ABC rock quiz show Spicks And Specks will finish up this year.
The ABC sent out a press release claiming that the program wants to go out on top, after seven years and solid ratings for Aunty.
Over the last four years, Spicks And Specks has had an average 1.35 million viewers and routinely sits in the network’s top ten programs.
Host Adam Hills said in the statement, “We are indebted to our loyal fans for giving us seven amazing years on Australian television, and I hope they'll hold the memories of Spicks and Specks close to their hearts".
Team captain Alan Brough said, “I'd rather people were upset because we stopped a little early, than upset because we stayed far too long.”
And other team captain Myf Warhurst beamed about the experience, “I've worked with an incredible team of people, both on and off screen, and, miraculously, managed to keep a job on TV for seven years, on a show that people love,"
Over the time, many and varied musical luminaries have appeared as guests and contestants on the show, including: The Wiggles, Chris Bailey of The Saints, Guy Garvey of Elbow, Missy Higgins, Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Troy Cassar-Daly, J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, Paris Wells, Tim Finn, Speech of Arrested Development, Anthony Warlow, Pete Murray, and scores more.
The final Spicks And Specks will air on Wednesday 23 November for a one-hour special.
Warhurst, Brough and Hills will all continue with projects at ABC1 in 2012.
