Comedian Russell Brand has been deported from Japan after flying in to watch his wife Katy Perry perform.
Brand was turned away from Japan for a prior conviction from around 10 years ago.
The comedian has often talked about his prior drug convictions but has never gone into detail.
Today Katy Perry tweeted, “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I bought him all this way to show him my favourite place”.
Brand was a less emotional and more jovial when he tweeted today. He said, “Planning escape from Japanese custody. Its bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick”.
Perry remained in Japan. “The show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it’snotrightbutit’soka,” she wrote soon after.
