June 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of the International release of the Flowers album ‘Icehouse’ that became the Icehouse album ‘Flowers’.
Icehouse were originally known as Flowers and ‘Icehouse’ was the name of the first album but when it came time to take it worldwide they discovered there was already a band called Flowers. So they switched the album title and the band name.
That was 30 years ago.
To mark the big Three Oh a 30th Anniversary 3 disc edition will be made available.
Flowers ‘Icehouse’ featured the hit singles ‘We Can Get Together’, ‘Can’t Help Myself’, ‘Walls’ and ‘Icehouse’. It spent 45 weeks on the Australian chart and sold over 300,000 copies.
The original studio album was been remastered and includes 3 bonus tracks.
Disc 2 is a 19 track, 75 minute live album of recordings made for radio broadcasts between February 1980 and November 1981. It includes covers of songs by Iggy Pop (Funtime), The Easybeats (Sorry), John Lennon (Cold Turkey) and Ultravox (Man Who Dies Every Day).
Disc 3 is a DVD featuring 5 live tracks from the bands 1981 Sweetwaters Music Festival appearance in New Zealand.
Universal will reissue Flowers ‘Icehouse’ on May 20.
