The Green Day ‘American Idiot’ Broadway musical has officially closed after 421 performances and 27 previews and Green Day were there to play it off.
The band performed a 10-song set after the final show on Monday night at the St. James Theatre on Broadway this week.
"Ladies and gentlemen this isn't a fucking party, this is a fucking celebration," Billie Joe Armstrong said. "I never thought I'd see my bedroom on a Broadway stage."
However, the world has not seen the last of the musical. The plan is now to take it on the road starting in Toronto on December 28.
Tom Hanks has also optioned the story for a potential movie.
‘American Idiot’ opened on Broadway on April 20, 2010. It has won a Grammy, a Tony, a Drama Desk Award and two Audience Awards.
