The forthcoming re-issue of David Bowie’s ‘Golden Years’ will come with an iPhone app to remix the song.
There will be a reissue of David Bowie’s 1975 track ‘Golden Years’ on a new EP, featuring four remixes of the song by US radio station KCRW DJs Jeremy Sole, Anthony Valadez, Eric J Lawrence and Chris Douridas.
And you’ll get to give it a shot yourself with an accompanying iOS app.
Music Radar reports that the original producer Harry Maslin has separated the 16 tracks down to eight stem files: Bowie’s lead vocals, backing vocals, 12-string and regular guitar, bass, drums, harmonium, and percussion.
The app doesn’t seem too comprehensive. All you can do is change the stem track volume, and start and stop them. It will let your export it as an mp3, though, and if you can’t be bothered doing any work you can just shake it and you’ll get a random remix.
The ‘Golden Years’ EP (available on CD, 12-inch vinyl and digital download) and the app will be available on June 6.
