He is a known diabetes sufferer.King's shows on Thursday and Friday were cancelled and he will most likely announce the cancellation of at least two more shows over the next few days.
B.B. King was born in Mississippi and this year the town of Indianola will honor him with the B.B. King Museum.
King broke ground for the building in June 2005.
At the time, he said "They asked to do it, and it's where my roots are. Maybe it's the same reason I go back year after year to do a free homecoming concert , there's a sense of place that's very powerful and I hope it can make a difference for the children of the Mississippi Delta."
The museum will feature various aspects of King's 60 year career including a replica of the WDIA radio studio from Memphis where he got his start as a DJ before he became a performer.
A spokesperson at the hospital has told the press that King is in a good condition, resting comfortably and has a little fever."
