Rising US dance-pop starlet Alexis Jordan tells Undercover about her impromptu meeting with mogul Jay-Z.
Jordan was in Australia recently and had just scored a double-platinum plaque for her debut single ‘Happiness’.
This precocious star is signed to RocNation for her self-titled debut album and she told us about Jay-Z visiting her in the studio.
“[Producers] Stargate flew me and my mother out to New York and we were recording all the songs,” she explains. “Next thing I see is all this commotion while I’m in the booth. I’m like ‘What’s going on’.”
“There’s this intercom thing so you can talk through your earphones and they’re like ‘Come meet Jay’, and I’m, like, ‘Who am I meeting? Jay, okay, let’s do this’. I prep myself up and there’s Jay-Z and I’m, like ‘What’s up, man!’ It was just normal’.”
Yup, this 18-year-old took meeting one of the biggest music moguls in the world all in her stride.
“I was so cool,” she laughs. “I’m not going to lie, I shook his hand and everything.”
She even still chats to him. Well, she says, “once in a blue moon”.
Jordan also talks about her time on America’s Got Talent, her good girl image (and her new song ‘Good Girl’), gaining fans on YouTube, and going double-platinum in Australia.
