Irish rockabilly queen Imelda May tells Undercover she's just shot a new video while in Melbourne.
Undercover sat down for a chat with the sprightly Imelda May, the ascending rockabilly starlet from Ireland.
First up she revealed that she shot a video in Melbourne for her fifth single from her second surprise hit Mayhem.
“We made a video yesterday in Melbourne,” she explained, “the fifth video or the fourth video we made off this album.”
The fourth or fifth for Mayhem because its release has been staggered around the world. It was released in October 2010 in the UK and debuted in the top 10.
“‘Sneaky Freak’ is the next [single], which we just made a video for,” she says.
May was in Australia for a tour, wowing audiences at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, and is already booked for UK, German and US stints.
She applies her cheeky humour to a range of topics: her rockabilly youth, beginnings at the club where Paloma Faith and the Noisettes started, self-producing her albums, touring with her husband, being endorsed by Jeff Beck and Jools Holland, and heaps more.
