Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi says they’ve got enough for another album and he’d want it out by year’s end.
Plugging their latest album, Angles, Valensi told Shortlist magazine that they’ve got lots of material left over.
“There’s material in the works. We have a lot of music stockpiled so, in terms of content, we’re in a good place right now,” he said. “If I had it my way, we’d have another album out by the end of this year”.
Singer Julian Casablancas said in the interview, “I think we’re going to start working on stuff as soon as possible. We were supposed to already, but it took longer than expected to master the album”.
The preponderance of material might be due to the fact that Angles was the first completely collaborative album that they have written, where previous albums were mainly driven by Casablancas.
Angles is only the fourth album from the band in their 13-year history, and the first after an extended gap after 2006’s First Impressions Of Earth.
Angles will be released in Australia on Friday March 18, in the UK on March 21 and in the US on March 22.
