The widely-reviled viral autotune abomination ‘Friday’ by Rebecca Black has hit the charts.
The clip has been shooting all around the internet this week and has been slagged left right and centre as the nadir of bland, autotuned pop (with obligatory rap bridge).
‘Friday’ was released on iTunes on March 15 and has already cracked their US top 100, rising to number 69.
It’s surrounded by singles from My Chemical Romance, The Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber and is sure to go higher as the clip continues to spread like the plague.
Rolling Stone notes that the clip has been viewed almost 10 million times since it was uploaded on YouTube in mid-February, but the video site’s stats show that almost all of those hits have come in the last week.
Whether she’s a joke or there’s even a tiny percentage of people are actually hooked on the track, sales are sales and a hit is a hit.
We tremble in fear and will keep you posted.
