As a founding member of Wolfmother and various other bands, Myles Heskett has made quite a name for himself in the sonic arts, but this April he’s exhibiting his visual prowess for the second time in his hometown of Sydney.
Heskett’s exhibit is called The Valleys of Ash and will run from April 8 - 30 at the MART Gallery in the Sydney suburb of Surry Hills.
“Encouraged to draw at a young age by his father, who was also an artist, Myles studied at the National Art School, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts,” a press release reads. “Now working mainly in oils on canvas and ink/mixed media on paper, Myles cites some of his artistic influences as Miro, Cy Twombly, Basquiat, Stanley Donwood and David Lynch.”
Accompanying the exhibit will be a book called ‘Wolf Trails‘ which comprises of “a selection of drawings from the sketchbook he carried with him while on tour with Wolfmother between 2005 and 2008.”
The MART Gallery can be found at 156 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills, NSW and will let you through the doors between 12 and 5pm, Tuesday - Saturday.
Heskett isn't dead musically either, he's currently performing with The Slew, which also features founding Wolfmother keyboardist Chris Ross, Kid Koala and DJ Dynomite D.
