Guitar pop masters Oh Mercy enlist Gossling for a tour and talk to Undercover about the Paul Kelly-endorsed new album.
The Victorian singer-songerwriter Gossling has just released her new single ‘I Was Young’ (think Julia Stone or Lisa Mitchell with a bluegrass bent) and a new clip here.
She’s hopping on tour with master popsmith Alexander Gow and his travelling version of Oh Mercy.
Gow came into the Undercover studios recently to talk about Oh Mercy’s second album, the Paul Kelly-endorsed Great Barrier Grief, which has just been released.
He spoke to us about the new, solo approach to the project, his recording process, and that Paul Kelly endorsement.
Gow explained that Paul’s nephew Dan Kelly gave the songwriting legend Oh Mercy’s first album, so Gow made sure Paul had an advance copy of Great Barrier Grief.
Kelly actually said in the press for the album that it has re-invigorated his songwriting.
Gow agrees that it was hugely flattering, “He’s the height of songwriting and music for me so, given that, everything you’d expect me to feel is how I feel.”
Check out the entire chat and an lovely acoustic performance below Oh Mercy and Gossling’s national March, April and May tourdates.
