Marilyn Manson has named his longstanding comeback album 'Eat Me, Drink Me'.
Following 2004's 'Lest We Forget: The Best Of Marilyn Manson' which the goth rocker dubbed his farewell album, and the attendant greatest hits tour 'Against All Gods', Manson finally announces the release of his next album. A brief missive on his dot com declares that the album will be titled 'Eat Me, Drink Me', is due out in Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) and will be followed by a world tour. The title is an obvious reference to Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland'. It coincides with Manson's reconfiguration as an 'artist' rather than just a 'musician' and the movement he has coined the 'Celebritarian Corporation'. In October 2006 he opened an art gallery in Los Angeles and has been working on a psychological horror film called 'Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll' where he will play the title role.
'Eat Me, Drink Me' has been in production for a year and a half, Manson telling MTV back in October 2005 that it was "nearly finished". Reported track titles include 'Rebels Without Applause', Celebritarian Hymn' and since most of his albums are named after a track, 'Eat Me, Drink Me'.
