UK singer Adele will have the number one album in America by the end of this week with ‘21’.
Adele ‘21’ is the follow-up to her 2008 debut ‘19’.
‘21’ was released in January in the UK and sold 208,000 in the first week in England where it also debuted at number one. It has now been awarded 3x platinum in the UK for sales of 900,000.
The new album also propelled sales of the old album which saw Adele have both the number one and number two album for one week in the UK as well. That had not happened since 1999 by The Corrs.
Hitsdailydouble.com is predicting sales of around 160,000 for the first week of US sales. That will be enough to dethrone Justin Bieber ‘Never Say Never’, the current number one album.
Bieber will come in at number two this week. Number three is currently too close to call between ‘Now That's What I Call Music 37’ and Mumford & Sons ‘Sigh No More’.
