Australian actors Geoffrey Rush and Jacki Weaver did not win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and Actress losing out to Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
Rush was nominated for ‘The King’s Speech’, Weaver for ‘Animal Kingdom’.
Bale from Wales won the award for his part as a crack addict former boxer in the movie The Fighter. Leo also won for The Fighter.
Earlier in the ceremony, Melbourne’s Shaun Tan won the Short Animated Oscar for ‘The Lost Thing’.
Nicole Kidman has been nominated for Best Actress for ‘Rabbit Hole’.
Australian Kirk Baxter is nominated for Editing for The Social Network.
