Canadian indie rock band Sloan will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a new record, ‘The Double Cross’.
The celebration is in the album title, referring to the roman numeral XX, or 20.
The record marks the band’s tenth and their confidence is high with singer and guitarist Jay Ferguson saying in a press release: “I think every band always says of their latest LP, ‘it's our best yet!’ or perhaps ‘it's our greatest work since Exile on Main St.’, and then you hear it and you say to yourself, 'hmm, well, not quite, guys'. Hopefully I'm not joining those ranks, but for this our 10th album, I personally feel it's up there with my favorites of ours. Short and sweet with unexpected turns down different paths.”
Album opener ‘Follow the Leader’ is filled with jangly guitar riffs, power pop harmonies, catchy melodies and everything that you know and love Sloan for and it certainly leaves you salivating for more.
‘The Double Cross’ was recorded at the band’s studio - The Sloan Space - at the end of 2010.
The band currently have no tour dates booked, but they’re promising to head out on the road in support of their new album soon.
‘The Double Cross’ will be in stores from May 10th.
