One of the greatest all-star concerts in history, the Concert for George, will be streamed tomorrow [Friday, Feb 25, 2011] to celebrate what would have been the Beatle’s 68th birthday.
The concert will be streaming on http://www.georgeharrison.com for 24 hours from 8am London time (GMT).
If you miss the free stream, the concert will be released on March 22 on Blu-Ray and digital download for the first time.
The Concert for George featured performances from those closest to George, including Jeff Lynne (ELO), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Billy Preston, Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, Joe Brown, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Ravi Shankar, Gary Brooker (Procul Harem), Sam Brown and George’s son Dhani Harrison and took place at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall on November 29, 2002, on the first anniversary of Harrison’s death.
It was directed by David Leland (director of Traveling Wilburys video ‘Handle With Care’). Jeff Lynne produced the recording (as he had done for a number of George’s solo records) and Eric Clapton assumed the role of musical director.
