Sherbet played their last ever show in Sydney last night as a farewell to their good mate and former guitarist Harvey James.
Daryl Braithwaite, Garth Porter, Alan Sandow and Tony Mitchell gathered at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney with their all-star friends and Harvey’s family to pay tribute to their guitarist who lost his battle with cancer on January 15, 2011.
The friends were the who’s who of the Australian music industry. Kevin Borich, Swanee, Lindsay Wells of Healing Force, Jon English, Leo Sayer, Ian Moss & Phil Small, Richard Clapton and Dragon and then Sherbet performed the classic songs that have become the soundtrack for Australia. (Unfortunately Renee Geyer had to cancel because of illness).
Harvey’s sons Gabe and Josh joined dad’s old band. Gabe came on stage for The Sherbs ‘The Skill’ and then his brother Josh joined them for the Sherbet signature song ‘Howzat’.
Opening act for the night was Lazy Flies, a band Garth Porter is working with, who started the night with a set of 60s and 70s guitar hero songs that Harvey loved
Leo Sayer was a late addition. Garth Porter invited him at midnight the night before and he responded immediately. Leo sang his classic hit ‘When I Need You’.
The finale was everybody on stage performing ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’.

The final Sherbet song Sherbet will ever perform as Sherbet was ‘Summer Love’ complete with confetti and beach balls all over the Enmore.
