Benji Madden of Good Charlotte has put out the call to collaborate with French neo-disco duo Daft Punk.
It’s a stretch, but stranger things have happened. Madden told Scottish newspaper The Daily Record that he would love to work with Daft Punk “because they are legit”.
The guitarist heaped praised on the Frenchmen, saying, “All of the records they make are on another level than any of the current pop stars or whatever. A lot of the other tracks around are kind of cheap.”
He also revealed that other producers from the dance realm have been mooted as collaborators, including David Guetta.
The reason they haven’t worked with a producer yet (apart from the occasional remix), Madden specified, is that "at the end of the day" they are a rock band.
He also predicted that rock will make a big comeback over dance and pop, saying “The bubble is going to burst as history repeats itself and there will be another breakthrough in rock and roll.”
