Canada’s Arcade Fire has beaten Lady Gaga, Eminem, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry to win Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards.
The relatively under-the-radar Arcade Fire won the award for their third album ‘The Suburbs’.
It beat ‘Recovery’ by Eminem, ‘The Fame Monster’ from Lady Gaga, ‘Teenage Dreams’ by Katy Perry and ‘Need You Now’ from Lady Antebellum.
‘The Suburbs’ was recorded in Montreal, Canada and New York, USA between 2008 and 2010.
The album debuted at number one in the UK and USA when it was released in August 2010.
