The late, great Solomon Burke has finally had his final album ‘Hold On Tight’ released in the United States.
The album, ‘Hold On Tight’, was recorded in Brussels, Belgium with De Dijk from The Netherlands, but never saw an American release. It became their first album recorded in English.
The songs on this record were originally written in Dutch, but translated to English and slightly changed by Burke for him to sing.
‘Hold On Tight’ will be released in the United States on March 22, 2011.
Burke had a number of hits for Atlantic Records throughout his 50 year career, including ‘Everybody Needs Somebody To Love’, ‘Cry To Me’, ‘Got To Get You Off My Mind’ and many many more. His career was revived in 2002 with the album ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’, which features songs written for Burke by Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and more.
He died on October 10, 2010 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on his way to perform in The Netherlands with De Dijk.
