Mick Jones is putting Big Audio Dynamite back together.
The Clash founder and recent member of Gorillaz live band told the BBC that the band with its original line-up will tour the UK in March and the USA in April, including a spot on Coachella.
Jones started Big Audio Dynamite with film producer Don Letts in 1985. The Clash had broken up just two years earlier. B.A.D. also featured Leo Williams on bass, Greg Roberts on drums and Dan Donovan on keyboards. “Thank God we’re all still alive,” Jones said on BB6.
Big Audio Dynamite lasted for five years and released four albums. Their biggest hit was the number one ‘Rush’ in 1991.
The reformation talks started 12 months ago. Don Letts told Billboard in April 2010 that a Big Audio Dynamite reunion was possible in 2011. Jones had commitments with Gorillaz up until the end of 2010.
There is no talk of a new record at this stage although Letts says there is a lot of unreleased B.A.D. music in vaults. “Hopefully we will get to do some more,” he said.
