Tangerine Dream will honor the legacy of Pink Floyd founder, the late Syd Barrett when they release their new album 'Madcaps Flaming Duty' in April.
This year, Tangerine Dream will celebrate their 40th anniversary. Edgar Froese formed the band in the same year that Barrett formed Floyd and he has remained with Tangerine Dream ever since.."This recording is dedicated to the influential spirit of a legendary musical mind, Syd Barrett, who had to end his present incarnation in summer 2006" he says in a statement.
The album recorded in Vienna and Berlin during October 2006 and feature Edgar Froese, Thorsten Quaeschning, Chris Housle, Bernhard Beibl, Linda Spa, Gynt Beator, Thomas Beator and Iris Camaa.
Froese and Quaeschning wrote the music and used lyrics adapted from 17th and 18th Century English literature by Bianca F. Acquave.
Next week in London, Froese is expected to announce three London shows to mark the 40th Anniversary of Tangerine Dream.
'Madcaps Flaming Duty' will be released on April 2nd.
