Electro icons Underworld are set to write the score for a new Frankenstein musical by director Danny Boyle.
Clash Music reminds us that the duo and the director have had a long association, from the prominent appearance of ‘Born Slippy’ in Trainspotting to their score for his 1997 sci-fi flick Sunshine.
Danny Boyle will bring the classic gothic story of Frankenstein to London’s National Theatre in 2011.
He’s confirmed that Underworld will provide the “soundscape” for the production.
Karl Hyde from the duo has blogged about the beginnings of the production, writing “Great day at Theatre. people, noises, music, spaces, inspiration unlikely direction. Shepherd’s pie, meat with a hat, Hamlet in the dark. Walking alone with the river, taking air with luminous boats.”
He also later mused, “In Theatre the dance floor is full of seats.”
