Muse’s live set last week at Rod Laver Arena may have been smoking but reports that a band member has been banned from the venue because he was smoking are totally incorrect.
Management at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena deny Muse received a five-year ban because bass player Christopher Wolstenholme broke the venues no smoking policy enforced under Australian law.
Jo Juler from Rod Laver Arena released the following statement on before of the venue:
“Muse played two full shows at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne last week. It has been incorrectly reported that they have been banned from the venue due to a band member smoking on stage. We confirm that the band have not been banned from Rod Laver Arena, and did not receive a fine.
The crowd were extremely well behaved at both shows and there were no incidents/issues to report. The band are very welcome back to Rod Laver Arena when Muse next tour Australia.”
Promoters Lees and West have called the press report “a media beat-up”.
