Pink scores her fifth week at number one in an astonishingly static ARIA chart.
No doubt doing a chart wrap during the lead up to the Christmas period is almost entirely pointless, with gift-buyers reinforcing the year’s Greatest Hits domination.
Yes, Pink’s Greatest Hits spends its fifth week at the top of the chart, following by Bon Jovi’s stalwart Greatest Hits.
The only new entries in this week’s ARIA Weighted Albums Chart were Altiyan Childs’ self-titled debut at number four and Michael Jackson’s first posthumous release Michael at number ten.
That’s it. Every single other album in the Top 100 has been there before... and barely moved.
And again, the gift-giving charts are heavily geared to physical copies of albums, with only one album selling more digitally than physically – Deadmau5 sold 542 physical copies to 655 downloads.
In fact, The Eagles Complete Greatest Hits went from 80 to 63 without selling one digital copy, and Tim McGraw’s Number One Hits went from 76 to 72 without selling one digital copy either.
Neil Diamond and the Jersey Boys soundtrack both charted at the back end of the chart without any digital sales.
Prepare for another couple of week’s of Pink’s reign until new albums start coming out again.
