Coldplay have released an odd new Christmas single with a pretty spectacular, Elvis-riddled single-take clip.
Coldplay have put out the new single, called ‘Christmas Lights’, as a digital download.
It’s not exactly ‘Jingle Bells’, with lyrics that begin: “Christmas night, another fight, Tears we cried aflood / Got all kinds of poisoning, I’ve poison in my blood” but it gets more hopeful as it goes.
But they’ve also offered a kooky, what-appears-to-be-single-take video to accompany it, which features a trio of Elvis-impersonators playing violins, a mock snowstorm and a balloon- and light-filled surprise at the end.
A Making Of video is up on the YouTubes, but it doesn't quite reveal if all that spectacular action is happening at the one time in the one take.
You can download the track at their section of iTunes but test it out with the clip below first.
