As the Northeast begins to recover in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, "the show must go on" for Team Genius who are just about to release their 'homage' to New York City in the aptly titled LP "New York Songs". The album is due for release on November 6th.
According to the press release this is the story of New York Songs.......
THE STORY. The search for something to connect you to everything. This is about New York making you into a New Yorker. This is about what it takes to get there. The euphoric wins, the colossal failures and all the plodding moments in between. This is about being a real adult but still confusing people about your age because you haven't quite lost your optimism yet. This is not easy. Team Genius knows this.
They lived it, and then they made a full length album about it.
Team Genius play big hearted joyous pop with synthesisers, drums, and fabulous harmonic goings on with a whole bunch of other instruments including their voices. Their songs leave you with a grin on your face and saturated with a sense of well being.
The brand new LP " New York Songs" is the closer to a bigger story that began with three E.P's that have already seen the light of day earlier in 2012, "Pop Songs" in August, "Whisky Songs" and "Loud Songs" in October. This band is fabulous. Thankyou Brooklyn N.Y for producing a truly authentic pop band with more chops than a butcher shop. When you get a bunch of people that are able to articulate and create something so good, their can be only one name for them. Team Genius.
If you are in NYC, BreakThru Radio and Grooveshark will help host the Team Genius Record Release show at Pianos on Saturday, November 3, pending the return of power and publc transport to the Lower East Side. They will be joined by fellow label mates "The City and Horses" and the Candadians "Peace."
