Comedy actor Leslie Nielsen has died in Florida at the age of 84.
I once had the chance to interview Leslie Nielsen and he was as funny off camera as he was on the screen. For the interview, he bought in a fart cushion (at least I hope he was a fart cushion) and dropped a few loud one right through the entire interview.
Canadian born Nielsen rose to fame in the 1956 science fiction movie ‘Forbidden Planet’ but it is the ‘Airplane’ movies (Flying High) and ‘The Naked Gun’ for which he will be best remembered.
In later years, Nielsen played cameos in parody movies such as ‘Scary Movie 3 and 4’ and ‘Dracula: Dead and Loving It’.
He was married four times and has two children to his second wife.
In 1988, he was the 1,884th personality to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
His nephew Doug Nielsen told a radio station that his uncle died “at 5:30 with his friends and wife by his side, he just fell asleep and passed away”.
R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen.
