If you think Black Label Society frontman and Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde cranks up other metal bands while cruising the freeways, think ago. He is an Eagles, Elton John, Crowded House kind of guy.
“The greatest thing about music when we are out on the road, we'll crank out the mellow stuff,” he tells Undercover’s Tim Cashmere. ‘Elton John piano stuff, Crowded House, the Eagles, that’s what I’ll listen to. I’m not going to be cranking the heavy stuff when I’m done blowing my brains out with a couple of Marshall stacks and a Les Paul. If I’m going to be sitting on a tour bus for 26 hours I’ll put the mellow stuff on, fire back some cocktails and listen to how great some of these other artists are.
However, when he is creating in the studio, he goes back to listening to the metal legends for inspiration “The heavy stuff is the heavy stuff,” he says. “If I am going to be doing stuff I listen to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, those are my bands. You crap out you eat”.
