The ARIAs weren’t the only award show on the weekend, as MTV Europe handed out their gongs.
The MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Madrid on the weekend, with the big North American stars taking home the big awards.
Lady Gaga snaffled Best Female, Best Song and Best Pop, and Justin Bieber won Best Male and Best Push.
Linkin Park won Best Live act, 30 Seconds To Mars were Best Rock act and Paramore as Best Alternative.
The inaugural Global Icon award was bestowed on… Bon Jovi.
In fact, the only non-North American acts who won awards were Shakira (who won the enigmatic Free Your Mind category), Germany’s Tokio Hotel (who won the World Stage category) and Best European act Marco Mengoni.
Shakira, Kings Of Leon, Miley Cyrus and 30 Seconds To Mars (with Kanye West) performed at the ceremony, which was hosted by Eva Longoria.
