In this week’s chart wrap, Taylor Swift bumps Kings Of Leon out of number one following a million-sales debut in the US.
Taylor Swift’s Speak Now burst into the number one slot in this week’s ARIA Weighted Album Sales, more than doubling Kings Of Leon’s sales.
Amazingly, Good Charlotte’s Cardiology barged into the number three slot on the back of top ten single Like It’s Her Birthday.
Neil Diamond’s latest covers effort Dreams came in at number five, the Rocky Horror Glee album came in at number eight and Jamiroquai quietly hit number 13 with his new album Rock Dust Light Star.
Other debuts included Melbourne hip-hopper Illy at 25 with his second album The Chase, Elton John’s comeback album with Leon Russell, The Union, at 28, Bob Dylan’s Witmark Demos at 36, and Augie March frontman Glenn Richards’ solo effort Glimjack at 60.
All the way back at 100, a Nirvana compilation just snuck in.
The biggest movers were, obviously, Taylor Swift’s self-titled album back in at 99 from 212, Enrique Iglesias’ Euphoria in at 18 from 77, and less-obviously, Roy Orbison’s Essential compilation back in at 68 from 203.
The biggest drop of the top 100 this week was Mirusia’s album Always & Forever, which slumped from 38 to 95.
Once again, it’s Greatest Hits albums that clog up the charts. There are currently 21 hits compilations in the top 100, and that’s not including covers albums from superannuated stars.
