Pearl Jam's yearly fan-club-only single will this year be covers of Neil Young and The Who.
The band will record The Who's 'Love Reign O'er Me' and will later be featured on the upcoming movie 'Reign Over Me'.The track will be backed with a live recording of the band doing 'Rocking In The Free World' with Bono and The Edge of U2 at Melbourne's Make Poverty History concert in October.
'Rocking In The Free World' has been a regular part of the Pearl Jam live show, and they have been known to do the occasional Who cover as well.
In 1995, Pearl Jam was Neil Young's backing band on the album Mirrorball. Young returned the favour by adding guitar to the two track EP Merkinball.
In 2000, Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder joined The Who on stage in London to perform their song 'I'm One', 'Getting In Tune', 'Let's See Action' and 'See Me, Feel Me'.
