Australian metal band Recoil have changed their name to Recoil v.o.r. to avoid confusion a musical project from the UK.
The v.o.r. bit stands for Voice Of Rule. “Adding ‘v.o.r.’ – which stands for ‘VOICE OF RULE” – helps us to more uniquely define our band and brand and to express the passion, energy and power of our music and not just my voice,” singer Wade McKay said in a statement.
Recoil v.o.r. plan to head to North America and Europe in 2011 and the Recoil name would not have been able to be used.
The British Recoil is the solo venture for Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode. Wilder has been using the name since 1986.
Recoil v.o.r. will take the Northern Hemisphere seriously in 2011. They recently signed a management deal with Mark Mazzetti and his Seattle based Record Company In A Box.
Recoil has been around since 2002.
