Classic Australian alt-rock bands Spiderbait, Frente, Hoss and The Fauves kick off a homage to the legendary Punters Club.
Before it was transformed into a discount pizza bar, The Punters Club on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy was the home of alternative music during the ‘90s. Name a band you loved, and they likely played there.
Now some of the venue's storied alumni perform two massive reunion shows at The Corner Hotel to relive the magic.
On Saturday November 27 Spiderbait, Hoss, Little Ugly Girls, Guttersnipes, Kim Salmon, Tirany, Spencer P Jones and more get together.
And on Sunday November 28 for a matinee show they host Frente, The Fauves, The Hollowmen, Kirsty Stegwazi, The Glory Box, Ron Peno of Died Pretty and more.
Former Punters Club staff and security will return and the Corner will even have the classic “sun” sign out front.
Footage from the final days of the Punters will be shown on the big screens.
Proceeds will go to the Dean Turner Trust, the Leukaemia Foundation and the Linda Gebar Daughters Trust.
Tickets are on sale from the Corner Hotel.
