Four years after his breakthrough album, Gotye announces a new disc with a free downloadable single.
Gotye, or Wally De Backer as he’s known in The Basics, broke through with the slow-burn success of 2006’s Like Drawing Blood.
He toured the album, then went back to his Basics duties.
But over the last year and a half he’s been working on his third album and the follow-up to his big album.
Gotye premiered the first track, ‘Eyes Wide Open’, on triplej this morning, and is currently offering it as a free download on his site.

If you’d like something more tangible, he’ll be releasing the song on 10-inch vinyl, with b-sides and a remix by Sydney/London champs PVT.
The limited edition vinyl is available for pre-order, and will come signed and dedicated if you so desire.
The new album doesn’t have a title yet, but has a vague release date of early 2011.
Gotye will restart as a live entity this summer as well, touring around the nation on the St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival next February.
