The day after Sydney announces a second Big Day Out date, Melbourne sells out in record time.
The extra Sydney date was the third time in the festival’s history that they’ve added another date, and it looks like they might need to make it a fourth, if Melbourne is any indication.
Tickets went on sale for the Gold Coast at 12:01 Thursday morning and all 50,000 tickets have been snapped up.
Auckland, Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne Big Days Out went on sale this morning, at 12:01am.
The Melbourne leg reportedly sold out within minutes. At press time, the BDO is still offering tickets to Auckland, Adelaide and Perth.
Big Day Out organizers are having a ballot system for a select number of tickets. Fans who missed out can sign up at their site, with a limit of two tickets per person.
Of course, eBay is already awash with overpriced BDO tickets, scalping proving to be an issue yet again.
There are a handful of days between each date for the festival, so it wouldn’t be impossible to have extra dates for each city, although the organizers have already ruled out the possibility of a second Gold Coast show.
Tickets for the second Sydney Big Day Out, happening on Thursday January 27, will go on sale at the very first minute of Monday, October 11.
