South African rave-rap freakshow Die Antwoord will blow minds with a Melbourne BDO sideshow.
In case you missed them, Die Antwoord (Afrikaans for ‘The Answer’) was the viral musical smash of 2010.
The crew, comprised of Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek, finally released their bizarre mash-up of proto-rap, techno and big beat this year to the bewilderment of music fans across the globe.
The album $O$ was released online in 2009 and burst through in 2010, baffling everyone as some sort of concept/parody/art project and producing eye-popping videos and live performances.
Die Antwoord are already on the Big Day Out bill, and will be supporting MIA on January 28 at Sydney’s The Metro and on February 1 at Melbourne’s The Palace.
Now, fans of rave-rap that don’t necessarily want to check out the brain-scrambling noise of MIA can catch a solo Die Antwoord show at the Prince Bandroom in Melbourne on Wednesday 2 February.
Tickets go on sale this Friday 17 December from Ticketmaster and the venue.
