Two of underground rap’s finest, Jean Grae and Pharoahe Monch, team up for Australian dates.
While they might not be the biggest names, there’s some serious talent between these two US artists.
Pharoahe Monch is renowned as one of the most inventive rappers of the current age, only slowed by record company ructions and mainstream resistance to creativity.
But that’s all behind him, as he brings classics like ‘Simon Says’ and ‘When The Gun Draws’ together with monster tracks from his new album W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) to Australian stages.
It’s his second trip in the last year, having blown away fans at Meredith in 2009.
Joining him is one of the most respected female MCs, the eminently classy Jean Grae.
This New York rapper moves in the same circles as Atmosphere, Ne-Yo, Busta Rhymes, The Roots, Mos Def, and is currently signed to Talib Kweli’s Blacksmith Records.
Her latest album is Cake Or Death
