Jon Brookes, drummer for Manchester icons The Charlatans has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The band cancelled a number of North American shows, but have brought in a Pete Salisbury of The Verve for the remainder of their world tour.
Brookes collapsed on stage last Wednesday during a show at the Johnny Brenda Concert Hall in Philadelphia, PA after repotedly suffering from a seizure and was rushed to hospital after receiving first aid from an audience member.
The band posted a statement on their official website, saying:
“The Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes is currently undergoing treatment in the UK for a brain tumour following the postponement of the remaining dates of Charlatans North American tour. The Charlatans touring schedule remains unaltered whilst the band arrange for a short term replacement. The band and Jon would like to thank all well wishers for their kind messages of support.”
Brookes will have an operation in the next week.
All remaining dates, including the Australian shows, will go ahead as planned with Pete Salisbury on the skins.
