Each day leading up to South by Southwest, Undercover will bring you a brief bio on a band you may not have heard before that we really think you should check out at the festival. So to kick it off, check out Airbourne.
Beginning life in the Victorian town of Warrnambool, Australia, the band made no secret in their love of AC/DC and Australian hard rock.Eventually deciding to move to Melbourne, the band rented a house together and practiced day in and day out - the result of which showed in their stand-out live shows at venues around the city.
Despite an obvious passion for AC/DC (they can deny it all they like - it really is obvious), the band overcame their similarities by both sheer musicianship and humor in their ridiculously over-the-top live shows.
As their following in Melbourne grew, and other cities began to get wind of them, various A&R scouts were spotted lurking in the backs of the rooms.
The band eventually signed to Capitol Records and has been recording their major label debut in Los Angeles.
It will be their first showcase at South by Southwest after canceling last year's festival.
