Snoop Dogg has begun 2007 as he ended in 2006 - embroiled in legal issues.
Thankfully for Snoop, this latest microscandal doesn't involve guns, batons, aeroplanes or cannabis. This one's all about kids playing football.Snoop signed a deal last June with New York-based Natural Resources Media & Technology Group to create a reality television series about a youth football league. Snoop has founded a youth football league for 9-12 year olds, with the kids competing for the right to play-off in the 'Snooperbowl'. The reality show was to chronicle the on- and off-field exploits of Snoop and his troopers.
Sounds like a great idea, right? One can imagine Snoop running up and down the sideline, shouting random, nonsensical phrases to his players. Much like his career, really.
The problem is, Snoop must have 'forgotten' that he had already signed a similar deal with 20th Century Fox. Feature film 'Coach Snoop' is already in development, with Fox claiming "exclusive rights to portray Snoop in any motion picture or television project or other production based on Snoop's involvement with his sons' football teams and leagues."
As such, Natural Resources Media & Technology Group have filed a suit against Snoop, claiming he signed a deal with them in violation of his Fox deal. They allege breach of contract, and seek $250,000 plus attorney's fees.
Perhaps a reality series chronicling Snoop's court appearances as a defendant could be an option?
